I hate how much I love this product. More accurately, I hate myself for how much I love this product despite the utter betrayal by the manufacturer.
When it was called Tide Rescue and was priced at $4.99/22 oz, it was absolutely my favorite laundry product. A fabric-safe formula that used very clever enzyme blends and gentle but effective soil-removing surfactants to take on any stain from animals (including humans), plants or anything that animals should eat. Widely available, affordable, safe and effective. What's not to love? The maker, Nehemiah Manufacturing, is also a registered B Corp and recognized as an excellent employer. Win/Win/Win.
Of course, something that good can't last in late-stage capitalism. Nehemiah reformulated the Big Orange Bottle version into a crappy dupe of Miss Mouth's Messy Eater spray, which is a cynical rebrand of Chateau Spill Red Wine Remover, and pretty much ruined the big bottle product, only to come back a few months later with this old mutton dressed as spring lamb, in the form of Tide PureClean.
You know that toxic ex? That one you're sometimes tempted to text after a couple of margaritas? This is them, in the laundry aisle. That said, this product is phenomenal. It can even deal with food stains that have failed to come out with conventional pretreaters. Like all enzyme pretreaters, you want to spray, wait at least a half hour, and then wash normally. Ideally, you'd let it sit on fabrics for an hour to a week then wash as normal. This product should be in everyone's laundry room. It's that good. Available at Walmart and Amazon.
