While my washing machine is an incredibly common LG 3400 4.5 cubic foot front loader, the technology to monitor the washes is not. I've developed a continuous wash monitoring platform, Kismai Æssistant, that constantly monitors three crucial parameters of every wash cycle to insure replicable test results.
Temperature: wash temperature in the sump (the lowest part of the water path, behind the front panel in the lower-left corner of these machines) is monitored every 30 seconds to 0.25C precision.
ORP: Ox/Redox Potential, a measure of oxidation / reduction power in the wash liquor, is sampled every 30 seconds to 1mV precision across a 4000mV range. This allows measurement of tap water chlorine sanitizer and added oxygen booster concentration during wash and rinse cycles.
Current Draw: to detect the precise start and stop time of the cycles, as well as alert me when it's time to move the Textile Monitors to the dryer, the electrical draw of the washer is monitored.
